Anne Guus Teerhuis – solo piano, owncompositions

Anne Guus Teerhuis (1981) began playing the piano at the age of five, and has been exploring jazz since the age of thirteen. Although music is his great passion, he first studied dentistry, which he completed cum laude in 2007. In January 2009 Anne Guus won the YPF Jazz Piano Competition of the Young Pianist Foundation. In the spring of 2010 he will present his new CD during a tour of which this concert is a part.

Anne Guus Teerhuis managed to impress the international jury (Antonio Farao, Rob Hagen, Karst de Jong, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bobo Stenson, John Taylor, Jacky Terrasson, Lodewijk Bouwens, Bert Mooiman) with his originality. “Very artistic, effortless technique, beautiful balanced sound, creative storyteller, very good ensemble playing and tight interplay.”

“Anne Guus is very artistic and knows how to tell a creative story with his music” said Michiel Borstlap, who presented the prize on behalf of the jury.
