The concert at the BIMHUIS rounds off the year with a mini-festival that brings together the various aspects of Pianolab.

There is free improvisation by former master Fred Van Hove – founder of free music in Europe and a kindred spirit of Misha Mengelberg; there is composed work for two pianos – masterfully performed by Daan Vandevalle and Keiko Shichijo; and there is an international quartet, which stems from the Duet Busch / Van Kemenade whose CD “CONTEMPLATION” has received international 4- and 5-star reviews for its interpretations of Russian Orthodox chants.

The invitation to expand this duo was accepted by the German trumpet wizard Markus Stockhausen and the Finnish ECM percussionist Markku Ounaskari mainly because both musicians can also be heard with psalms, folk songs and sacred soul on various CDs.
