Gallery of Tones Live in Bethlehemkerk

A series that focusses on diversity in musical styles, cultures and instruments.

Playing music belongs to all times and all cultures. Live in Bethlehemkerk is a new series by Gallery of Tones and Studio 150 featuring concerts, lectures and masterclasses.

With Live in Bethlehemkerk we discover the boundaries between the various musical movements and styles, each with their own characteristics, timbres, rhythms and cultural associations, and we align these different facets. We want to explore each other’s musical domains in different ways, blurring the borders and highlighting similarities, resulting in a series of ten pioneering concerts and additional, in-depth programming.

Concert & Xtra Time with the Artist

Live in Bethlehemkerk is an initiative of co-curators Keiko Shichijo and Stefan Busch. Each programme consists of a concert part and an educational part ‘Xtra Time with the Artist‘, spread over two days. The focus is always on one musician; he or she designs and implements both the concert and the in-depth programme (masterclass, workshop or lecture). The programme takes place in Studio 150, located in the Bethlehemkerk in Amsterdam Noord. Our aim is to involve residents and (aspiring) musicians from the neighbourhood as much as possible in the project. The concerts and especially Xtra Time will be streamed.

Première: March 27, 2022, 15:00

Location: Zwanenplein 34, Amsterdam Noord
