The concert in the BIMHUIS closes the year with a mini-festival that brings together the different aspects of Pianolab.

There is free improvisation by master Fred Van Hove – founder of free music in Europe and a kindred spirit of Misha Mengelberg; there is composed work for two pianos – masterfully performed by Daan Vandevalle and Keiko Shichijo; and there is an international quartet, which originates from the Busch/Van Kemenade duet, whose CD ‘CONTEMPLATION’ has received international 4 and 5 star reviews for its interpretations of Russian Orthodox chants.

German trumpet wizard Markus Stockhausen and Finnish ECM percussionist Markku Ounaskari accepted the invitation to expand this duo mainly because both musicians can be heard on several CDs with psalms, folk songs and sacred soul.
