After the first successful concert with Keiko Shichijo during the exhibition 'Female Power', the Gallery of Tones received a grant from the Fonds Cultuur Arnhem to organize additional concerts.

After recordings with the Brötzmann Oktett (Machine Gun, 1968) and Manfred Schoof (European Echoes, 1969) 1970 saw the birth of what is probably Europe's best-known trio, the Trio Brötzmann/van Hove/Bennink, with Han Bennink. His Musica Libera groups since 1980 have included Paul Rutherford, Radu Malfatti, Günter Sommer, Evan Parker, Barry Guy, Marilyn Crispell, among others.
