In this masterclass, Soroush will teach you tips and tricks for becoming a more musical and technical drummer, focusing on the most important aspects of the craft.

In general, several key elements must be considered:

Posture, motion, and sound quality

Posture, motion and sound quality are connected to each other. Hitting the drums correctly and keeping proper posture provides better control and cleaner sound, just the same as any other physical activity.

Timing

The most essential aspect of our job  is mastering time control. It involves tempo and meter,  without losing it, speeding up, or slowing down.

Dynamics

Dynamics refer to volume levels in music. It’s a powerful way to add feeling and emotion to our performances. We can use accents, ghost notes, playing louder or quieter to express ourselves and shape the music.

Vocabulary

Vocabulary in drums, refers to different grooves, fills, patterns, rudiments, various techniques and styles of drumming.

Having a wide range of tools at our hands  allows us to do more with our drumming, and express ourselves more effectively as a musician.

Creativity

Sometimes, it’s beneficial to think outside of the box. So trying out different rhythms, fills, technical skills, or experimenting with different ideas can make the drumming more  enjoyable and fun.

Sense of Musicality

Becoming a great drummer involves more than just technical skills. It’s about feeling and the sense of music, serving the song, and expressing yourself.
