Besides being a pianist, Canadian Lisa Cay Miller is also a renowned composer.
Her work has been performed by the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and the Vancouver Chinese Instrumental Music Society.

Don’t expect a sweet jazz cocktail or lullabies from her latest project Q. Q is at an original intersection of genres that has been described as ‘Chamber jazz’.

“What interests me is a meeting of classical composition, jazz and free improvisation,” Miller said. She likes to put the improvisational talents of her band members to the test.

In the Press:

“If the new improvisational movement means to convey the spirit of jazz without reiterating its stylistic clichés, then Vancouver-based pianist Lisa Miller deserves to be considered one of its leading lights.”
J.D. Considine, The Globe and Mail

“Miller is one to watch.”
Pat Buzby, Signal To Noise

“..the pianist possesses serious talent. Most impressive is how suggestive her pieces are – not in the lascivious sense, but in their quicksilver ability to evoke a variety of subtle emotions. Although Miller can attack the piano with Tyneresque force when necessary, she more frequently employs a light touch and an even lighter hand with tonality, playing with a kind of delicious ambiguity…”
