On the Ketelhuisplein, in The Growing Pavilion by Company New Heroes, a live concert featuring the music of J.S. Bach will take place every morning of Dutch Design Week (October 19 to 27). Using his sounds as a starting point, a number of musicians will create live moments, which will be recorded and processed into a soundscape. Every day new ones will be added, feeding the soundscape, which will organically keep growing and changing during the 9 days of DDW: this is Growing Music!

Musicians who will feed the soundscape with the music of Bach are Laurens de Man (chest organ), Goska Isphording (harpsichord), Eilidh Martin (cello), Diederik van Wassenaer (violin), Vincent van Amsterdam (accordion), Maximiliano Ciaffi (piano) and Jacqueline Hamelink (cello).

In addition, based on the soundscape and the theme (water, nature, environment), new music will be improvised by Stevko Busch (jazz pianist) on October 24. The sound designers who will bring the soundscape to life are Aart Strootman and Richard van Kruysdijk.

The morning concert with the music of J.S. Bach lasts 15 to 20 minutes and is open to everyone. On October 27, only the mature soundscape can be heard. The Growing Pavilion containing the soundscape Growing Music can be visited continuously.

Growing Music was commissioned by the Province of North Brabant (Water, Nature Environment) and developed by Jacqueline Hamelink.
