“The music of the world sounds wonderful anywhere if it’s coming from the heart.”
Dinesh

Indian flutist and composer Dinesh Mishra was born in Varanasi in 1969. He grew up in a family where little music was played. He learned bansuri playing in the traditional Indian manner from R. K. Shrinivasan, Pandit Raghunath Prasanna and later from the legendary Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. After twenty years in Indian classical and in Bollywood, he took a different path and became an international working musician. Within a short time he built a name for himself in Europe.

He worked with musicians from many different styles, such as jazz, rock, classical, contemporary music, flamenco and pop. On his musical journey he worked with high-profile musicians such as Markus Stockhausen (Eternal Voyage), Jorge Pardo (Multi Roots), T. M. Stevens, Nippy Noya, Rhani Krija, Stevko Busch, Florian Weber, Sandesh Shandilya, ‘Embryo Band’ and many others. Dinesh experiences again and again that music is one universal language. In his playing he follows his heart and creates his individual style. He enjoys freedom and does not follow any specific musical style. He considers himself an inquisitive musician who uses his traditions to forge new paths in world music.

He is ‘Artist in Residence’ of the Akademie der Kulturen in Germany and regularly comes to Europe to convey and perform his vision of ‘One World Music’ – a symbiosis of Indian classical music, European jazz and ethnic influences.
