Between 12-19 october the students orchestra from Sarala Birla Academy, Bangalore, India will visit the Netherlands to collaborate with the youth orchestra Corrente directed by Guido Jansen. During this meeting, which is the first of it´s kind, the young students will work on the composition "Srishti" (Creation) by Dr. KK Mishra and Mr. Rohin Joseph. On 16 october they will perform all together in the city theatre of Arnhem, "Stadstheater Arnhem".

This collaboration has been instigated by bansuri player and composer Dinesh Mishra (Kalashray Foundation, Village of Arts & Culture, India) who is also leading the project.

The exact schedule will be published in Events in September.

Here is how our partner in India describes the vision of the collaboration:

"Sarala Birla Academy, Bangalore, India Presents

SRISHTI

Srishti or "Creation" is an amalgamation of sounds that resonates in nature as well as in the universe. Music engages the human mind and soul and is instrumental in lifting the Human Spirit. In the recent past an increase in electronic music as well as synthesized digital sounds has enveloped a generation of listeners who have somehow lost to savor the absorbing sounds in nature.

At Sarala Birla Academy the department of performing arts has explored the unique nature of music by incorporating sounds found in nature and juxtaposed it with the ancient Hindustani Ragas and contemporary world music. An eclectic mixture of the distinctive nature of these ancient ragas with the timbre of the Indian as well as western musical instruments makes for a riveting experience. The performance aims to recreate the origins of the universe – exploring the unique role of sound or “Naad Bramhba” – God of sound in this process of creation – SRISHTI. "
